Club Beautification Weekend 2

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the this weekend, the second weekend of club beautification.  Come out for a few hours and help make the club a better place.  You do not have to commit for the entirety of both days, if you can make it for a few hours at some point over the weekend, please come by.  We need all the help we can get!   See below for details.

Club Beautification March 28-29,  9am-3pm:  If you are interested helping us to beautify the party room, please RSVP by sending a text or calling Michelle at 504-669-0240. To help you make your decision, we are making arrangements to provide volunteer sitters to help with kids so you do not have to be worried about your little ones. Please Let me know ahead of time so that we have enough sitters to take care of children. To help with the job, feel free to bring paint brushes, rollers, drop cloths and anything else you think we could use. If you would like to help with the cost of paint, we will take donations as well.
Again, you don’t have to come out for the entire time – any bit of time you can give is appreciated!

Driftwood Parade – Fast Eddie/Slow Tony’s Marching Club

Good morning, fellow members!  I have a message for you from Slow Tony regarding the marching club you see in the Driftwood parade:

I was having a conversation regarding Fast Eddie’s/Slow Tony’s marching group and the Driftwood Parade.  This statement was made, “We were never asked to participate.” I said jokingly that we don’t have a big marketing budget, but we want everyone to know that all the guys are invited to join. I guess it has never been put out there, other than a friend telling a friend, so now it is out there..

Well, we don’t want people to think it is a closed group. We want the folks of Driftwood to participate…because if they don’t this little pleasantry will go the way of Schwegmann’s, K&B and McKenzie’s. So if you are lucky enough to read this…because it is going to the Civic Association and the Country Club mailing lists and site, then please join us.

We are a very informal group and we could use a boost in members. By doing so, you can have some fun, meet more people, and assist in keeping a tradition alive. It’s been $25.00 for a number of years and that just goes to pay the band and get a bit of face paint…and if there is anything left, we’ll cover a few hot dog purchases at the end of the parade.

To get involved just email Slow Tony at altruismplus@aol.com

Tony Bonifacic

This is a really great group of guys and a wonderful way to make new friends in the neighborhood.  Call Tony today to see how you can participate.  It’s not too late for this Saturday!

Labor Day Weekend and More News

Hi, fellow members!  This coming weekend (Labor Day weekend) is the very last weekend for swimming in 2014.  We will have Open Pit all weekend long.  Bring your food and charcoal and enjoy the last weekend of swimming!

On Labor Day, the Club will supply the charcoal for Open Pit.  Hope to see everyone there to help close out the summer with fun and swimming!

On September  24th at 7:00 p.m., we will hold elections for the coming year.  Most of the positions are open.  If you are interested in running, call or email one of the board members.

Monday night Fantasy Football League will hold its draft on September 3, 2014 in the DPCC bar area.  Anyone interested in joining must contact Don Murphy before the 3rd at 231-3878. The cost is $235 per team which includes a meal every Monday night.

Finally, with regard to the Social Committee, I was the only one to show up for the last meeting.  While I would  love to have events each month for both adult and kid members of the club, I cannot do it alone.  Anyone who would like to help put on social functions over the fall/winter, please attend the next social meeting Thursday, August 28th at 7:00 p.m.
